| GRUIS: background information | |
| Gruis is a dancenight that took place every two months in the former "Auto Centrale Utrecht". Already around 1990 there were parties under the name "Gruis" in the ACU (take a look at some old flyers from that time!). In the year 2000 plans were made to revive this evening... After a succesful try-out on 25 February 2000, GRUIS became a frequent dancenight again with DJ's Maarten & Hans D. Later M joined them as regular DJ. Various guest DJ's also made their appearance at GRUIS, as well as few live acts. See the playlists & flyers of all parties here. In 2005, the GRUIS parties have come to an end. After five years, we don't have enough time and motivation anymore. Thanks everyone for your support through the years. Perhaps we'll meet again at another time and place. In the last year we tried something different: 'theme parties', which focus on related musical styles. A few examples which we have done: We also do an alternative 80's party now and then: GRINT. Hans D.:

During
the first few years we played an eclectic mixture of dark underground
music at GRUIS. Some styles that were featured: industrial, 80's wave,
neofolk, industrial, medieval, IDM, electro, minimal and darkwave. Both
new obscurities and older classics were on the menu. We tried to avoid
clichés.
